Issue 41 of Populated Hexes Monthly dives into the Shadowlands, with a geographic overview describing how it maps to the mortal world, a brief introduction to some of the better-known locations, and an examination of the penumbrals: creatures born of the Shadowlands that include ghouls, ghasts, shadows, vampires, barghests, and bodaks.

The Populated Hexes Monthly series is written for Old School Essentials, but can easily be converted for use in virtually any OSR-style game. Each issue examines a different hex that can be used by Referees in need of an encounter location in different terrain types, as well as alternate rules designed to expand play options.
