Run from the Dark is a roleplay game about folk horror, the things that go bump in the Dark and existential dread. In Run from the Dark, the Dark literally kills you. It is a malevolent force that consumes and takes all who are lost in it. In Run from the Dark you play as the Walkers who go out into the Dark, with lights of various kinds, forging your way through the bleak world, connecting towns and facing the horrors that call the Dark home. 
 
Run From the Dark uses an the easy to learn custom roleplay system, that is narrative focused and designed to create interesting and unique characters. Or if you want you can use Run from the Dark as a horror setting for your favourite roleplay game.

Run from the Dark is inspired by Wales and its folklore. Set far into the future, where our technology has fallen away and small settlements eke out an existence amongst the relics of our lost age.

THE DARK 
In Run from the Dark, the Dark or Darkness is an entity that whispers through its sirens to the people of the world. It is not an absence of light but a diseased and evil thing, it spreads forth from the bowels of the earth and darkest forest every winter to extinguish the light of the world. The Dark is a living thing, it warps the minds of its heralds to bring an end to the light. In true folk horror fashion it is an unknowable entity, driven by motivations impossible to determine. 
The Light
Each character must carry a light or be taken by the Darkness, their light is a unique part of character creation where this central piece of equipment forms where you come from. It is not just a choice of another item you carry but fundamental to how you hold back the Dark. It is unique and should be embraced as part of defining who you are in this bleak world.
