OSR News Roundup for August 24th, 2026

Welcome to the fourth and penultimate News Roundup for August. I try to mention itch jams whenever they come across my radar, but itch certainly doesn't make it easy. I did, however, discover A Mystic Wood OSR jam, which launched last week, hosted by RedMageGM, in which participants are encouraged to create mystical, mysterious forest-based adventures or locations. Speaking of missing itch jams, there's currently one running for Vaults of Vaarn, with another month left for submissions.

  • I had interviewed the married duo of Meldar16 a few years back as a part of their ZineMonth project, and they (now publishing as Wind-Up Vampire Press) have just released a new title. Knights in White Satin is an adventure for Shadowdark, and is available on both itch and the new RPG-Trader webstore.

  • If you're playing Cairn and have a need for pregenerated characters or NPCs, Dom Bosco has you covered, with a collection of 47 PCs.

  • Speaking of NPCs, Baying Hog Pit has released a supplement with a d810 table for generating NPC personalities and quirks.

  • Monochrome Dome is an adventure written for the aforementions Vaults of Vaarn summer jam, featuring a dome laboratory featuring sibling mad scientists that have developed a technique of harvesting power from color.

  • I'd mentioned Grim Games before (and even interviewed them for Sabre Rattlings); they're currently raising funds for Servants of the Dragon Lord, a 5th-level adventure for Shadowdark. They've been really great with fulfilling on time, so this is a publisher I can certainly recommend.

  • Another project for Shadowdark is Forgotten Foes, a collection of monsters that adapts monsters from older editions to Shadowdark.

  • Wrath of a Thousand Suns, currently funding on Kickstarter, is a funnel crawl for Pirate Borg, bringing the funnel concept to Pirate Borg.

  • Dunromin University Press has just released The Bridge of Lost Souls, an adventure for mid-level characters, statted for both OSE and OSRIC.

  • Another release for OSE is A Delving Most Dark, by RPGRamblings. It's an adventure anthology of four connected adventures designed to take characters from level 0 to high levels. They've also released An Adventure Most Foul, a collection of three connected adventure and a bunch of character options and new classes.

  • directsun, famous for their puzzle dungeons, has just released a bundle on Drivethru that contains their three titles. It's also available as a print on demand bundle.

  • Rise Up Comus has released the eagerly anticipated The Castle Automatic, a megadungeon written for His Majesty the Worm. It's currently only available in digital format.

  • Necrotic Gnome has released Quick Delve #4, Shadows and Flesh, an adventure by Noah Green.

  • Atelier Clandestin, known for their Sandbox Generator, has just released the Sci-Fi Colony Generator, what is sure to be another great addition to their random generation resources.

  • The RPG Blacksmith has released a pretty stunning collection of royalty-free stock art assets for overland map creation. There's a ton of great looking stuff in this release.

  • The Valley of Lune, by Hilander, is a mini-setting for Cairn 2e, with a definite dream-like, fey vibe.

  • I think Kyle's Killer Kryptids is the first third-party release I've seen for Vagabond, which is great to see; this release is a bestiary of new monsters written for Vagabond.

  • Populated Hexes Monthly Issue 59 is currently funding on Kickstarter, featuring the Plateau of Leng, new monsters adapted to OSE such as the horrid moon-beasts, tickling nightgaunts, and feral wamps, and a clerical expansion of the four deities from the BX Bestiary Vol. 3 (Baphomet, Cthulhu, Lespessia, and Retaxes).
