Welcome to the final OSR News Roundup for August, a month which has, at least for me, seemed endless. In an attempt to get better at finding and promoting itch jams, I've been scouring itch and social media. One jam that might be of interest to folks is the 2nd iteration of Hexcrawloween, starting on October 1st and running through November 3rd. It's a jam to create a seven hex, system-agnostic hex flower.
I'm expecting releases this week to be a little thin, what with summer winding down and school (in the US, at least) back in session, but let's dive in and see what has released, shall we?
epigramps has released The Spiral Prison of the Lionmaiden, an adventure for Cairn, in which the PCs must deal with the monstrous child of a dead tyrant, infecting the dreams of the city's residents.
Sivad's Sanctum, the author of the 1920's crime and gangster-inspired Crime Wave, has been hosting a jam for it on itch, and has released Toys in the Attic, an adventure about loansharks collecting money from an elderly toymaker that doesn't want to pay up.
Demi El Gato has released their entry into the Mystic Woods jam, an adventure for OSE for characters level 3-6, in which they must venture into the forest domain of a dragon to rescue a young prince who has gotten himself into trouble.
It's been awhile since I've seen anything by Knight Owl Publishing, but they've just released Emporium of the Damned, a supplement that introduces an inter-dimensional bazaar connected to all the realms of Hell.
It's also been awhile since I've seen anything released for the Black Hack, but I just happened to spot Forgotten Engines, which provides guidelines for adding all things sci-fi and futuristic to your fantasy rpg.
Interestingly, Swords Against the Shadows is also a Black Hack inspired new release, this one a very Conan-inspired system that takes its cue from the British rpgs of the 80s.
James Floyd Kelley has released Issue 23 of Delver, their zine for most OSR-adjacent games, as well as Issue 11 of Runes, which does the same thing as Delver but specifically for Shadowdark.
A House that Ate Itself is a small, pamphlet-sized guide for adding social combat to Mything Bastionlands.
Jeffrey Jones has released Gary's Appendix #10, a supplement for OSR games. This issue covers demons and devils, with plenty of guest articles and content to keep your players busy.
Tales from the Fog, the fanzine for Tuesday Knight Games Fatherfog game, has just released Issue #4. I know I've covered at least one previous issue, but it feels like I've missed at least one or two in there. Anyway, this one features a mini-adventure in a small town with a trio of missing goat-herders.
Companions of the Crawl is a release for Shadowdark that introduces rules and guidelines for adding animal companions to your Shadowdark game.
There's only a few days left in the Eat Crow Kickstarter, a supplement for Mork Borg that explores the apocalyptic landscape through eateries and cuisine. It's designed for both solo and group play, which is a nice little touch.
Pawel Kicman, the creator behind Corp Borg, is funding Khthon, a survival game about exploring an underworld after the surface world has alread died.
