The Plateau of Leng (south)

Area 25 on the overview map, the Plateau of Leng is bounded on either sides by towering, jagged mountains perpetually covered in snow. At the far southern end the Plateau drops off in a sheer, 500' tall cliff. Few mortals have ascended to the plateau above and returned, sane, to tell the tale. What is known is that it is a desolate, snow-covered plateau inhabited by the alien, inscrutable Men of Leng. the curious and deadly Leng spiders, and other, more horrible creatures. It is rumored that the Plateau exists both in the Mortal world and the Dreamlands, and that the aurora borealis almost ever-present above the plateau are particles of dream magic spilling over into the normal world.

A perpetually frozen yet slowly flowing river, the Lethe, flows from north to south along the length of the plateau, spilling over the southern end in a waterfall of enormous icicles. A large lake at the bottom is fed by the waterfall, a lake in which nothing lives (or at least, not lives as is known by humankind). On the edge of the lake is the mercantile town of Kahudbar, which exists only to facilitate trade between humanity and the Men of Leng. It is a grim, dark town with severe, stone buildings with steeply sloped slate roofs.
