OSR News Roundup for August 10th, 2026

Welcome to the second News Roundup for August, 2026. I've been plugging the work of Demi ElGato recently for their OSE releases, and wanted to give them a special shoutout for their first Kickstarter: Flowers of Fantasy and Fate Vol. 1. It's a micro hexcrawl for use with OSE, and while it has already funded it can use your support!

• Vodka_Gobalsky has released a collection of free templates to use with Affinity publisher, called generic product. They're pretty basic, but sometimes basic is what you need, especially if you're just dipping your toes into the world of Affinity.

• Doll Weaver's Affluence is a 35-room collaborative dungeon put out by the Baying Hog Pit collective. It's got a bunch of new monsters, and a haunted-house vibe.

• I'm a big fan of art packs, and maxkieran has released an old-school art pack consisting of mostly character portraits, plus some other subjects, over on itch. It's royalty free and available under the Creative Commons license.

• Designed for Shadowdark, The Savage Arctic is a setting and expansion that takes place in a frozen tundra, and it includes new classes, spells, and monsters.

• This 'Effin GM has released Fantastic Figureheads and Where to Find Them, a trifold pamphlet for Pirate Borg that includes twenty relics and a mini adventure to steal one.

• Raptor Ruckus is a game inspired by a certain early 90s movie in which the power has gone out at the theme park and the dinos have all escaped. The Quickstart Guide is now available; it's based on a Mork Borg engine and has enough material to get you into the game and fighting dinosaurs.

• Written for Mausritter, Building Burrows is a third party expansion that adds rules and guidelines for building communities in game as a player goal.

• The Stormlight Borderlands is a system-agnostic setting designed as both a playable setting but also as a teaching tool for new GMs to help with building a setting.

• Roundup favorite Luka Rejec has released The Vastlands Guidebook, the core rulebook for their Ultraviolet Grasslands setting.

• I mentioned Torque Borg last week, and there's now a solo adventure for it called Waste of Water as well as two multiplayer adventures: Corpse Road to the Cranklands and Echo of Steel.

• Secret Hearth has released Weald, an interesting rules-lite d20-based game. It's specifically designed for sandbox play.
