OSR News Roundup for September 14th, 2026
Welcome to the second News Roundup for September. Last week was curiously light on releases, so let's take a look and see what has come out since then. In my goal to be on the lookout for more game jams, I wanted to let everyone know that Forlorn Skulk is hosting an Orctober Orc-themed jam. It doesn't start until September 30th, but now you've got a little bit of time to start thinking about what you want to do.
If you're interested in writing for Mothership, Tuesday Knight Games has open submissions for grants to three writers to produce Mothership adventures. Submissions close on September 30th.
Vault of Zahram is a collection of magical items with an Arabian flavor for use with Shadowdark. It includes both magical items and the random generation tools to make more.
Inspired by a series of dreams the author had of Table Rock, Nebraska, The Horror on Goat Hill is a system agnostic adventure of cosmic horror.
The ever prolific David Okum has released Battle Stations, rules for ship to ship combat using Starship Adventures, their Mork Borgian take on cinematic space adventures.
Written for Shadowdark, The Null Conclave is a 0-level funnel-style adventure that has the PCs attempting to escape from captivity by bandits, only to encounter worse horrors in the process.
Damp Dark Doom is a pretty innovate adventure. It comes as a pdf, designed to be printed at home, and has two different adventures, both meant to be played differently. What caught my eye was the way the player-facing map for the point-crawl mode unfolds to reveal more of the map as the PCs progress. My only small quibble with this project may be the amount of black ink needed to print.
WGW Games has released another collection of 30 hex maps organized by biome and designed to be modular, used to piece together a larger map as needed or used as a single location.
Valley of the Green Knight, a submission to the Mystic Woods jam, is an adventure for OSE, in which the PCs must find a way to slay the Green Knight and claim his legendary battle-axe.
Written for Dolmenwood, The Bobbin Class and Marionette Kindred, is pretty much as it sounds. One thing that tickled my fancy is the marionette's ability to, at high levels, transform from wooden toy to flesh and blood body.
Hunt for the Questing Beast is currently funding on Kickstarter. It uses Mork Borg, and is based around the Knights of Pellinore (the PCs) hunting for the Questing Beast before it can fulfill a prophecy.
Marco Serrano is about halfway through a crowdfunding campaign for Liquidation, an adventure for Mothership.
Eat the H.I.V.E. is a hack of Eat the Reich, in which the players attempts to bring down a bunch of corporate space fascists.
I've released a couple of new titles: Quest for the Unknown -- The Caverns of Anamosa, is a remix of the classic B1 module that extrapolates the basic set-up into the first of a planned six-part adventure path designed to take characters from level 1 to 10+. Populated Hexes Monthly Issue 59 looks at the Plateau of Leng, with encounter locations, Lovecraftian monsters statted for OSE, and an examination of four of the deities from Vol. 3 of the BX Advanced Bestiary.
I'm also crowdfunding a collection of 1st level starter adventures for OSE and Bree-YARC called In Search of Adventure. The five adventures, written by folks like DG Chapman and James Holloway, are going to center around a starting town in the wilderness that will serve as a jumping off point into a campaign.

People can have very different experiences with DM First Register Some may enjoy the gameplay, while others may focus more on understanding the rules and features. I think every genuine perspective can add something useful to the discussion.
